Project Guidelines and Suggestions

Projet: Le Monde Francophone

Overview: You may work individually or with a partner to research a Francophone country/ province / city. I have given you three options for a final product: a poster, a brochure, or an essay. I have also provided you with some suggestions, guidelines, and details of how your project will be graded. Because this is the Preliminary Chapter, your information will be presented in English.

Option 1: Travel Poster
You are organizing a group excursion or a study abroad program to a Francophone country/city. Create an advertisement poster to promote your destination. Things you might want to include are:
_____ An enticing title (ex: Trace the Origins! Quebec!, Unwrapping History:
Paris, Feel the Beat of Congo)
_____ (An) eye catching picture(s)
_____ A theme (adventure, food, beach and sun, family, art, history and culture,
relaxation-spa, green, destination wedding, honeymoons, luxury, Mardi
Gras, Olympics, Tour de France)
_____ Brief summary of the destination
_____ Highlights of experiences offered during the trip (attractions, historical
landmarks, shopping, restaurants or regional food, entertainment, walking
tours, outdoor adventures)
_____ Accommodations (Hotel, hostel, camping, host family stay)
_____ Cost of trip
_____ Transportation (train, plane, bus, car, limo, etc)
_____ Geographical Map or map of city
_____ Dates

Option 2: Travel Brochure
You are organizing a group excursion or a study abroad program to a Francophone country/city. Create a brochure to promote your trip. See the checklist above (for poster) for things you might include.

Option 3: Essay. Choose a Francophone country/ province / state/ city. Research this location and write a 1-2 page paper about how French came to be spoken here. Things you might want to include are a brief history, periods of colonization, and how/if French is used today in the society.

Grading: This project will be worth 50 points. You will be graded on content and accuracy (20 points), Effort and Organization (15 points), Oral Presentation (15 points).
