About

Señora Susan Ptacek has been with the Lincoln Public Schools her entire teaching career. With a B.A. from Trinity University and an M.Ed.(plus 36 hours) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln,  she joined LPS in 1970. Having taught Spanish and French at several schools (Mickle Middle School, Lefler Middle School, Southeast Community College, Doane College-Lincoln, Lincoln East High School) she has had a variety of experiences. Currently Susan is a Spanish teacher and department chairperson of the World Language Department at Lincoln East.

Susan has been awarded several teaching awards including the Cooper Award for Excellence in Education (2), Nebraska’s Outstanding Spanish Teacher of the Year, named to Who’s Who of American Teachers (3), the Nebraska Department of Education World Language Star Award (4) for professionalism inside and outside the language teaching profession, and the Lincoln Public Schools Gold Star Award. She has also presented at local, state, regional and national conferences on teaching, assessment, and technology strategies. She still loves what she does and has stayed in contact with many former students.

The mother of two daughters, she enjoys scrapbooking with her daughters, needlework,  and playing with her granddaughter.
