Did Pocahontas Really Save John Smith?

Follow the Directions below to create a document in GoogleDocs:

1. Open GoogleDocs and sign in using your six-digit student number and password.

2. Click the red “Create” button in the upper left hand corner and create a Document.

3. Title it using your FULL name and Pocahontas.

Ex.- Mr. O’Meara- Pocahontas

4. Then click the blue “Share” button in the upper right-hand corner.  In the “Add People” section at the bottom, add:

pomeara@lps.org

and leave the the permission on “Can Edit.”

5.  You may only share with me or you will receive a zero.

6. Click “Share and Save”

7. Now you are ready to start your answer!

Here is how your answer should be organized:

Your Thesis Statement – Answer the question did Pocahontas really save John Smith.

1st Main Reason Why – In your own words what is one reason why you think Pocahontas did or did not save John Smith.

1st Quotation – Use a quotation from one of the documents to support your 1st main reason. Make sure the quotation helps explain why you think she did or didn’t save John Smith.   Put in it quotation marks and from where it comes.  Ex. Source 1.1… or Adams wrote…

Explain 1st Quote – Explain what the quote means and why you chose it to support your thesis statement. This could be more than one sentence.

New Paragraph

2nd Main Reason Why – In your own words what is one reason why you think Pocahontas did or did not save John Smith.

2nd Quotation – Use a quotation from one of the documents to support your 2nd main reason. Make sure the quotation helps explain why you think she did or didn’t save John Smith.   Put in it quotation marks and from where it comes.  Ex. Source 1.1… or Adams wrote…

Explain 2nd Quote – Explain what the quote means and why you chose it to support your thesis statement. This could be more than one sentence.

Conclusion – Restate your thesis statement in a new way to demonstrate how your evidence proves whether or not Pocahontas saved John Smith.
