Nebraska Business Focus Program

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Business and Lincoln Public Schools partner to offer the Nebraska Business Focus Program in fall 2023, located at Standing Bear High School. The program enables students to develop their business knowledge and skills to be successful in any career path, working for a business or starting their own.

All 9th and 10th grade students at Standing Bear will experience business concepts integrated into regular classes. This is known as the “pre-pathway.” The College of Business provides hands-on learning opportunities for students in these pre-pathway learning opportunities, including exciting guest speakers and contests to pitch business ideas.

Students in grades 11 and 12 have an opportunity to explore their passions and career opportunities in the areas of accounting, economics, finance, management/entrepreneurship, marketing and supply chain management. They will connect with peers, teachers and business professionals from the community. This early college and career pathway is for those who plan to either:

  • Pursue a 2- or 4-year degree upon graduation
  • Enter the workforce with foundational business knowledge

Students in the pathway can opt to take business classes for college credit and will receive reduced tuition from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Non-credit experiences will be available to students free-of-charge. The program is designed to be affordable and accessible to students and their families.
