SJDLC (DLC) – Steve Joel District Leadership Center

The Steve Joel District Leadership Center (SJDLC) is found at 5905 O Street in Lincoln, NE. It houses many of the administrative and support personnel for Lincoln Public Schools, as well as the Board of Education meeting room, training and meeting spaces.

In June, 2022 the Lincoln Board of Education voted to rename the LPS District Office (LPSDO) to the “Steve Joel District Leadership Center” (SJDLC or DLC) to honor Joel’s legacy. He led LPS through 12 years of tremendous growth and challenges,  including the COVID-19 pandemic and the fire that destroyed the district office on May 30, 2011. He is celebrated for his vision, leadership and commitment to LPS students even through hardships.

LPS central offices have been known by different monikers over the years, including:

• LPSDO – LPS District Office
