Attention Mickle Families! We are looking for adults to volunteer at our Waffleman Fundraiser on Tues. As a service to our community and a fundraising effort for our school, a student phone directory for families of Mickle Middle School students has been compiled.  The directory will be sold for $1.00 in the office.  Names of ALL our students are included in this directory along with phone book style information (names, mailing address, phone number).  Parent/guardian names are also included.  Families with “unlisted” home information have contact info excluded.

Mickle’s Planner Word of the Week: Diligence- Be diligent with your work habits. Organization and thoroughness will take you far!

Belmont Recreation Center 6-8 GRADE TEEN NIGHT Friday Oct. 21st from 7:00-9:00p.m (stay in the center the whole time) at the Belmont Recreation Center 1234 Judson. Play basketball, volleyball, kickball in the gym. Go to the game room for pool, table tennis, foosball.  Pick out a board game & have some fun with a friend.  Snacks and drink provided! Tennis shoes are required and student id.

SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL” T-shirt orders are due in to Mrs. Johnson by the end of the day on Friday, October 14th.  Friday, October 14th will be the LAST DAY you may order a shirt.

Turn in clipped boxtops to your first period teacher this week.  The first collection will be on Friday the 14th.  The 2 classes with the highest percentage turned in will win an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen.  All individuals who bring in boxtops will be put in the individual drawing to win other prizes.  Please trim your boxtops and put them in a baggie or envelope with your name and 1st period teacher’s name on the baggie/envelope.

I am again taking orders for Stop Bullying t-shirts.  You can order one in Mickle blue, purple, hot pink or the national “Stop Bullying” color teal.  Orders will be taken through Friday, October 14th.  If you would like to order, choose your color and bring your $10  to Mrs. Kiburz in room 121.

For those that need them, picture retakes are scheduled for Wednesday, October 19th in the afternoon. Talk with your parents and then stop in the office and put your name on the retake SIGN UP SHEET.  Your old pictures and envelope need to be returned to the photographer on retake day in their original condition.

Student Directories are now available for sale for $1.  You can purchase your copy of the Student Directory in the office or during lunch in the cafeteria.

Want to try something new?  Ready for a change of pace?  How about going to school at a real zoo?  The Science Focus Program (the Zoo School) may be right for you!  We offer LPS math, English, social studies, and science classes, as well as some courses unique to the Zoo School, including opportunities for field studies in the zoo, with UNL, and other agencies. Student organized clubs are also available: Key Club, Roots & Shoots, Science Olympiad and Amnesty International. This focus program is open to 9th through 12th grade students. Our next informational night will be on Tuesday, October 11 at either 6:00-7:00PM or 7:00-8:00PM at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo 1222 So 27th Street. Enter the zoo through the Zoo’s administration building.
