Free job-getting help from a local non-profit

Next TuesdayApril 17, from 5:30-6:45pm at the Nonprofit HubLead Up** will host a forum called “Apply Yourself”. It will feature three panelists from YMCA, HyVee and Gallup. This forum will focus on finding and successfully securing a first job or summer employment with an emphasis on helping students learn that first jobs are more than just a way to make some money, but rather a chance to start a resume, and develop  skills needed for future college and careers.
Sound cool? Check it out, and stop into the Counseling Center with any questions!
**Lead Up is a Lincoln-based non-profit whose mission is to increase diversity in higher education and the workforce in Lincoln by providing support to underrepresented students.

GoPo Hours Through Bright Lights (for juniors)

A week of work will get you all you need to complete your 20-hour Government & Politics service learning hours. Per the Bright Lights website:

Summer is a great time to complete volunteer hours for GOPO, service hours for the parochial schools, or other service project hours. To meet the required 20 hours for GOPO or service hours, assistants must attend the orientation, assist the teacher with classroom setup, and be in attendance for the full program week.

For more info, visit their website and/or stop by the Counseling Center!

From LSW Student Council…

Student Council is collecting used prom attire that would be given to LSW students who couldn’t otherwise afford to buy prom clothing. We were wondering if any teacher would be willing to donate old formal attire, such as dresses, sport coats, ties, accessories etc. We appreciate anything you could give. Please bring your donated items to Sarah Hammers in either A117 or A209 by April 6th at the latest.

Our boutique will be open for students to shop in the counseling center April 10th-13th. Below are our hours.

Tuesday 4/10: 7:45am-8:05am & 3:03 pm-4:00 pm
