Lehigh University has announced a unique experiential opportunity for students entering in Fall 2020. Lehigh Launch, an integrative, inquiry-based learning experience for intellectually curious and independent learners, takes students to the American West or Ecuador for an immersive first-semester experience before their arrival on Lehigh’s Bethlehem, Pa. campus in Spring 2021.
Lehigh Launch is open to students of any major who wish to develop leadership skills through a challenging, hands-on and somewhat unconventional first semester of college. Led by Lehigh faculty and staff, the program combines classroom- and field-based experiences in a living-learning community where you will explore some of the world’s most exciting regions while taking four courses and earning 16 credit hours toward your degree. The American West option includes backpacking and canoeing expeditions with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) and the Ecuador option takes students to the Amazon rainforest and the Galapagos Islands.
Interested students who like the idea of starting their college career with a different kind of adventure, are invited to view the website by clicking here. Students can begin to apply to Lehigh Launch through their Lehigh Portal on January 1, 2020.
