From the scholarship provider:
My name is Ethan Ferguson and I am the current recruitment chair for Pi Kappa Alpha at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. We are offering two $250 scholarships to incoming, male freshmen who will be attending UNK for the 2018-2019 school year. To apply for the scholarship go to this link:
The scholarship does not require members to join the fraternity or join greek life. I would appreciate if you could help get this information to any current senior males at your school planning on coming to UNK. If you have any questions you can contact me at my email, firstname.lastname@example.org.
ZipRecruiter is offering a $3000 scholarship and our deadline (June 30th) will be here before we know it!

Next Tuesday, April 17, from 5:30-6:45pm at the Nonprofit Hub, Lead Up** will host a forum called “Apply Yourself”. It will feature three panelists from YMCA, HyVee and Gallup. This forum will focus on finding and successfully securing a first job or summer employment with an emphasis on helping students learn that first jobs are more than just a way to make some money, but rather a chance to start a resume, and develop skills needed for future college and careers.
Sound cool? Check it out, and stop into the Counseling Center with any questions!
**Lead Up is a Lincoln-based non-profit whose mission is to increase diversity in higher education and the workforce in Lincoln by providing support to underrepresented students.
A week of work will get you all you need to complete your 20-hour Government & Politics service learning hours. Per the Bright Lights website:
Summer is a great time to complete volunteer hours for GOPO, service hours for the parochial schools, or other service project hours. To meet the required 20 hours for GOPO or service hours, assistants must attend the orientation, assist the teacher with classroom setup, and be in attendance for the full program week.
For more info, visit their website and/or stop by the Counseling Center!
Interested students must be 13+ by the time detasseling begins. See below for important meeting dates for interested students, as well as Champoux Detasseling on Facebook. 🙂
There will be two summer academies– one for Latina students and another for African/African-American students– held in mid-June for rising 10th and 11th grade girls. The cost is $25 for a full week of classes and activities; check out their webpage to sign up!
If you’re wanting to keep items from your class.lps.org’s Google Drive account after graduation, this article should give you the details for how to do so. Plan ahead and don’t wait ’til the last minute, just in case! 🙂
Student Council is collecting used prom attire that would be given to LSW students who couldn’t otherwise afford to buy prom clothing. We were wondering if any teacher would be willing to donate old formal attire, such as dresses, sport coats, ties, accessories etc. We appreciate anything you could give. Please bring your donated items to Sarah Hammers in either A117 or A209 by April 6th at the latest.
