University of California-Santa Cruz’s Fall Saturday Tours

Interested juniors and seniors are invited to visit the University of California, Santa Cruz campus for one of their Fall Saturday Tours on October 21 or November 18, 2017. This student-led campus tour event will provide prospective students with a general introduction to academic and campus opportunities. An Admissions presentation covering freshman and transfer admissions will be followed by a brief student panel and an all-walking campus tour. Reservations must be made in advance online. Students are recommended sign up as soon as possible, since the tours will fill up fast. For students who cannot visit the campus this fall, the university offers an online virtual tour in five languages.

Apply2College Reminder

Seniors are reminded that Apply2College will be held at LSW on Thursday, October 5th from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 pm. During this event, seniors will have the opportunity to meet with admissions officers from the schools listed below and complete the online admissions application process. Below is a list of colleges who will be at each session:

Session 1 * 8:30 – 11:00

  • Bryan College of Health
  • Central Community College
  • Doane University
  • University of Nebraska-Kearney
  • University of Nebraska-Omaha

Session 2 * 11:00 to 1:00

  • Southeast Community College
  • Nebraska Wesleyan University

Session 3 * 1:00 – 3:30

  • University of Nebraska-Lincoln

NYU Updates

Updates from New York University include the following:
Standardized Testing is Optional for Artistic Students
Applicants to arts programs in our Steinhardt School and Tisch School of the Arts are no longer required to submit standardized testing for consideration if an audition or portfolio is required. Submitting test scores is entirely optional for applicants to these programs. Goodbye CSS Profile Noncustodial Form
The CSS Profile is no longer using the Noncustodial Profile. Instead, students with unmarried, divorced, or separated parents will need to provide a ‘Household A Profile’ and  ‘Household B Profile’. Vertical Response Scholarships

Vertical Response announces the following scholarships that are available:
1. The first scholarship is the Animation Career Review “Aspiring Animation Professional” Scholarship. This $1000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student interested in pursuing an animation related degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can visit AnimationCareerReview.com to find eligibility information along with an online application.
2. The second scholarship is the Fashion Schools “Aspiring Fashion Professional” Scholarship. This $1000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college.  Interested students can visit Fashion-Schools.org to find eligibility information along with an online application.
3. The third scholarship is the Online MBA Report “Aspiring Business Professional” Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student interested in pursuing a business degree at any accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can visit OnlineMBAReport.com to find eligibility information along with an online application.
The deadline for all three scholarships is June 1, 2018.

Texas Tech Preview

Seniors interested in attending Texas Tech are invited to participate in the full Red Raider experience during Texas Tech Preview! . They will have the opportunity to learn about the rigorous academic programs that can prepare students for nearly any career; and most importantly, have their questions answered.

AXA Achievement Scholarship

The AXA Achievementsm Scholarship offers college scholarships of $2,500, $10,000 and $25,000 to high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, the community or the workplace. Scholarship winners are known as AXA Achievers. They are ethnically and economically diverse, but they share these qualities: ambition and drive; determination to set and reach goals; respect for self, family and community; ability to succeed in college. The scholarship is sponsored by the AXA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of AXA US.

The 2018 program is currently accepting applications until 10,000 applications are submitted or December 15, 2017, whichever comes first. Your application MUST be one of the first 10,000 submitted electronically by the deadline date. Apply early!

Case Western Reserve University’s Diversity Overnight Event

Case Western Reserve University is currently accepting student applications for its Diversity Overnight event on Nov. 12 and 13. Applications are due Monday, Oct. 2.

Diversity Overnight is designed for smart and curious high school seniors from diverse backgrounds, to give them an in-depth look at the opportunities available to our students.

Students interested in Case Western Reserve are encouraged to submit an application for this event today.

Participants accepted to Diversity Overnight stay in a residence hall with a student host, engage with faculty and learn about the many opportunities available to students at CWRU and throughout our campus in Cleveland’s University Circle.

On Monday, participants will join hundreds of other prospective CWRU students at the Fall Open House, where they will learn more about how students contribute to classroom discussions, participate in meaningful extracurricular activities and engage in hands-on learning.

Case Western Reserve will cover the cost of meals and lodging for students accepted to this program. Case Western Reserve will also able to assist with travel expenses and arrangements.
