Fashion-Schools.Org Scholarships
2. The 2nd Scholarship is the “Aspiring Animation Professional” Scholarship Program. This is the 5th year we are awarding this scholarship for AnimationCareerReview.com. We are offering high school seniors the opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship. This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an accredited post-secondary school or college. We ask that you have interested students visit our website, http://www.animationcareerreview.com/ to find eligibility information along with the online application. The scholarship will be on the right side of the page and click on it.
The deadline for these scholarships is June 1, 2017.
KU Updates
- LEAD Program: The Legal Education Accelerated Degree program allows students to earn a BA and a JD in six years instead of the usual seven.
- SELF Fellowship: The Madison and Lila Self Engineering Leadership Fellows Program combines a scholarship and valuable training in business and entrepreneurship.
- MSP Program: KU’s Multicultural Scholars Program provides scholarships and academic guidance.
These visits are free and open to any admitted high school senior and their guests. Students will hear from an admissions rep, take a campus walking tour, enjoy lunch on us at Mrs. E’s and have the option to tour residence halls or meet with academic departments. Online registration is required.
Hawk Food Mart
Term 2’s Hawk Food Mart will be held Tuesday, December 13th in the A118 Forum between 2:15 and 3:30 pm. A variety of grocery items will be provided by the Food Bank of Lincoln. Gently used clothing will also be available. The Hawk Food Mart is open to students, staff, and their families. There are no costs or income restrictions for participating in this event.

LSW Holiday Boutique
Eat, Shop, and Be Merry when you attend the annual LSW Boosters’ Holiday Boutique on Thursday, December 15th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Commons Area. This year, FCCLA will offer soups and holiday treats at the concession stand. The LSW Art Club along with several other vendors will have a variety of hand-crafted and retail products available for sale. From 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Dr. Simpson-Kirkland and Ms. Jean-Baptiste will provide musical prelude before the LSW Jazz Band performs their winter concert for shoppers in the Commons Area. The concert begins at 7:00 pm.
Vendors donate at least 25% of their sales to the Adopt-A-Hawk Program, which assists LSW students and families during the holiday season as well as throughout the year. Last year, the LSW Holiday Boutique raised $400 for the Adopt-A-Hawk Program. Vendors for the 2016 Holiday Boutique include:

New School Updates
As 2016 comes to a close, are you thinking about going to school in the New Year? Join us in December for one of our admission events – one on campus and one online – to learn how you can complete your bachelor’s degree at The New School! We are still accepting applications for the spring semester – which begins on January 23. Or, apply for the summer or fall start. These are information sessions for our Bachelor’s Program for Adults and Transfer Students – an undergraduate program that gives you the freedom, flexibility, and support to design a degree that builds on YOUR story. At both sessions, we’ll be discussing the academics, the transfer process, and application requirements for the Adult Bachelor’s Program. Bachelor’s Program for Adults and Transfer Students – Admission and Transfer Credit Workshop If you’d like, bring your transcripts (unofficial or official) to the session and meet individually with an admission counselor after the group session to discuss transfer credit eligibility. |
American Legion Scholarships
The American Legion offers a number of scholarships and other resources to assist young people in their pursuit of higher education. Each year, the Legion facilitates the awarding of millions of dollars in scholarships to high school students. There are opportunities for everyone.
The American Legion, Department of Nebraska will award up to four (4) Jim Hurlbut Memorial Baseball Scholarship to American Legion Baseball players and also an annual scholarship for students planning to enroll in a Nebraska educational facility of higher learning with the Maynard Jensen American Legion Memorial Scholarship.
