Sewanee, University of the South is hosting Discover Sewanee on Nov. 8–9, 2015. Students are invited to apply to attend Discover Sewanee, where they’ll discover the diversity of people and experiences that Sewanee has to offer. At Discover Sewanee, students will spend two days in our residence halls and classrooms bringing their unique perspectives to our discussions on interculturalism.

UNK Health Careers Fair

UNK Health Careers Fair will be held on Wednesday, October 14th at the Fine Arts Building’s Recital Hall  with Registration: 8:15 am – 8:50 am. Opening Session/Event Begins: 9:00 am. Attendees need to  arrive and complete registration/check-in between 8:15 am and 8:50 am.  The event begins promptly at 9:00 am with an opening session.

Dr. Brad Bohn, Family Practice Physician at Kearney Clinic will share his experiences as a student and also as a clinician practicing in a rural area.  Following the opening speaker, student groups will be rotating through three separate opportunities: Career Exploration Fair, UNMC Health Science Education Complex Information Session and a breakout session.

Over 30+ representatives from various healthcare professions will be sponsoring tables at the Career Exploration Fair.  A campus tour will be available at the conclusion of the day.  For more information regarding the day please visit

Lunch IS NOT included as part of the Health Careers Fair.  However, lunch vouchers for The Market, located in the Nebraskan Student Union, will be available to students to purchase at a reduced price ($6.77) if the students are interested in having lunch on campus following the Fair.

Smith College’s Women of Distinction Program

The Women of Distinction program for high school seniors highlights the opportunities at Smith College for African American, Asian American, Latina and Native American students. Participants in this three-day program will explore Smith College and determine whether it might be an appropriate college choice for them. Students will live in campus houses, experience the academic and social life at Smith and attend panels and workshops on student life and the college admission process.

Admission to Women of Distinction is a competitive process based on academic and personal qualities. Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously visited Smith. Smith will provide round-trip transportation, meals and accommodations for all selected participants.

The program is for U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents who reside in the United States or a U.S. territory. International students and U.S. citizens abroad are not eligible.

The Women of Distinction application will be available at now until the deadline on Wednesday, September 16, 2015.

Please note that your high school transcript is required, so plan accordingly. All applicants will be notified in writing by September 30, and selected participants will be given instructions about arranging travel and other program details.

Susan Thompson Buffett Scholarship Application Workshop

At 2:15 to 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 17th in B118 Forum, there will be a workshop for seniors interested in applying for the Susan Thompson Buffett Scholarship. Co-presenters will be Anders Peterson from EducationQuest and Kellie King from UNL’s William H. Thompson Learning Community.

Buffett Foundation has offered scholarships to Nebraska students for more than 50 years.  Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to first-time, entering freshmen who are residents of Nebraska and graduates of a Nebraska high school.  There are a limited number of scholarships, so the Foundation is unable to provide awards to all eligible candidates. On Thursday, October 29th, seniors will have the opportunity participate in Apply2College to complete their online college admissions application at LSW with assistance from representatives of EducationQuest, area colleges and universities, and LSW grads. More details will be announced in the near future.
