Someone you know may be at risk. Learn how to get help.
On Wednesday, January 14th at 6:30 PM, the Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention Program will be at Sheridan Lutheran (70th & Old Cheny), to discuss suicide prevention. This will be a community-wide event. In the recent past, there has been a rise in suicides and attempted suicides. A variety of organizations will be hosting this event and conversations, with The Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention Program providing unique training in two separate sessions — one for youth and anther for adults. Yellow Ribbon utilizes a unique community-based model that increases the competence and confidence of youth to recognize and respond to suicidal individuals.
The youth session is a peer based training that includes empowering youth to use this vital life skill. Their work is designed to build increasing help seeking behaviors and links between peers and caring adults.
The adult session is a community friendly non-clinical training. It teaches simple effective tools of help between hose in need and help resources.
Presenting partners include: Youth Suicide Prevention, the kim Foundation, Nebraska State Suicide Prevention Coalition, Bryan Health, Center Pinte, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Nebraska Mourning HOpe, and the Nebraska Loss Team.
