On Saturday, November 1st, Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska will host the annual YWE3Lead (Young Empower, Engage, Educate and Lead) Conference at Mammel Hall on the UNO Campus. Modeled after the ICAN Women’s Conference, this all-day program is open to any girl in grades 9-12 and focuses on leadership, wellness, self-esteem, networking, and career exploration. With their $25 registration, attendees receive breakfast, lunch, a t-shirt, supplies, as well as a full day of inspiring workshops and presentations! For more info, please click here. To register, visit www.GirlScoutsNebraska.org.
I’m especially excited to announce that this year’s Keynote speaker will be Megan Swanson, Miss Nebraska 2014. Ms. Swanson will present “Total Body Wellness: Spirit, Soul and Body” which encourages girls to be their best selves from the inside out. In addition to being a passionate advocate for teen girls, Ms. Swanson will also speak candidly about some of the stereotypes of being a “pageant girl.”
In between sessions and workshops, attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a community give-back project facilitated by graduate students from UNO. This project will incorporate themes of health and wellness and will be placed into the community as a gift from the YWE3Lead participants.
