10th Annual Great Books for Great Kids Fundraiser

The 10thAnnual Great Books for Great Kids fundraiser is fast approaching!  This annual fundraiser sponsored by Runza®, will be held on September 25 with 15% of Runza’s® sales being donated to FLPS in order to purchase Golden Sower books for LPS classrooms.

 Here are a few ways you can help make this day a success:

  • Email the attached pdf to friends and colleagues and encourage them to pass the information onto their acquaintances.
  • Join and share the event on Facebook:
    • Visit, https://www.facebook.com/events/354945961253299/.  Once the event appears, click the ‘+Join’ button in the upper right hand corner of the page to join the event. Once you join, an ‘Invite Friends’ button will appear.  Click the button and select from your friends listing those to invite to the event.
    • You have the opportunity to share the event on your own Facebook wall.  Once you have joined the event at https://www.facebook.com/events/354945961253299/, a “Share” link will appear under the guest list on the left hand side.  Simply click, “Share” and add your own personal message to the status box.

The deadline for submissions is January 5, 2013.
Mark the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy presidency by encouraging your students to participate in the 2013 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest. The contest provides a unique opportunity to integrate lessons in history, writing, and current events while addressing national standards in social studies and language arts.

Contest topic: In 1,000 words or less, describe and analyze an act of political courage by a U.S. official who served during or after 1956.
