Dual Credit Courses with Southeast Community College

GET A HEAD-START ON COLLEGE AND EARN COLLEGE CREDIT WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL

Lincoln Public Schools, in partnership with Southeast Community College’s DC Advantage program, gives high school students an opportunity to earn dual credit (both high school and college) while enrolled in high school. By taking dual credit courses, high school students start earning college credit and get a jump start on their post-secondary degree.

WILL MY DUAL CREDIT CLASSES TRANSFER TO ANOTHER COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY?

Most courses offered will meet a post-secondary program’s general education requirements and are transferable to most two- and four-year institutions. To find out how the courses transfer to other institutions in and out-of-state, visit our website: www.southeast.edu/transfer-information/ OR www.transferology.com/ OR http://transfer.nebraska.edu.  Once your dual credit courses are complete, please request your college transcript be sent to your institution of choice.

HOW MUCH WILL A DUAL CREDIT COURSE COST?

SCC is incredibly affordable, just $42.35 per credit hour. Most courses are 3 semester credit hours and will cost on average $127.05. LPS provides textbooks, and no cost is accrued by the student. Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch can apply for the Learn to Dream Scholarship, which will cover the entire cost of the course. Students can apply for the scholarship HERE.

WHEN CAN I REGISTER?

Students who elect to enroll in their high school course as a dual credit student will register within the first two weeks of school, either with their high school instructor OR a SCC representative during their scheduled class period. Once enrolled in a dual credit course, students must abide by the DC Advantage calendar drop and withdrawal dates. Students may withdraw from the college portion of the course, but may still be responsible for tuition.
