Special Effect

Special Effect

– Create an interesting visual effect (colored pencil, mosaic, plastic wrap, etc.) by using Photoshop Filters.

You need to have 10 different photos with 10 different effects. Include both original and manipulated versions. (2 photos of each) Before and After. So you’ll have a total of 20 photos on the page.

For this assignment you will use existing images. Open full-sized images from your Photos Master folder on the server. DO NOT use resized images from your Website Galleries folder, because they will be too small.

Caption: For each image, use the original caption for the photo and include a third sentence describing what filters were used. Tell how the effect was created.

**Be sure to write down the effects as you use them so you don’t forget!!

In Photoshop there are a number of different effects that are easy to apply to a photo. Open the image in Photoshop and go to the Filter Menu. You can also choose the Filter Gallery. You can zoom out by holding down the Apple/Command Key on your keyboard and typing the minus (-) key. Click on the triangles next to the categories to see more options.

You can also adjust the image by changing the sliders and tools to the right of the photo. You will be able to Preview the effect to decide if it’s what you want. You can add multiple filter effects to a photo, but you need to apply one first before choosing another.

If you decide after applying it that it’s not what you want, simply go to Edit and say Undo to return to the original version.

Be sure to say SAVE AS when you are finished, and add a .2 to the file name so you can place both the original and the filter photos. When you save them, create a new folder in your Photos Master folder on the server.
