Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer by John Grisham
13 year old Theo loves the law. He dreams of being a lawyer. He helps friends and classmates with problems and offers advice. Eventually he gets involved in a murder trial and isn’t sure what to do. John Grisham, who writes thrillers about the law for adults, is writing his first children’s book. I think he does a good job explaining parts of the law without getting too bogged down in details. It is a fast paced story and the suspense builds nicely. I was frustrated with the ending though. There wasn’t one! Obviously, the publishers want you to buy the next book, so they left the murder trial and Theo’s involvement unresolved. Of course, I will read the second book in the series. I want to know what happens next!
