How Tia Lola Came to Stay

How Tia Lola Came to Stay by Julia Alvarez.
This is a great story about how two cultures are merging into one. Miguel, who was born in America to Dominican parents, is dealing with a move due to his parents’ divorce. His aunt (tia) Lola comes to Vermont from the island of the Dominican Republic to help his mother.  Miguel is introduced to his boisterous, colorful, very Spanish Tia Lola.  Sometimes he just wishes she would go back to the island and his family could reunite, but wishes don’t always come true.  Will Miguel learn to tolerate, and maybe even love his aunt Lola?  Read to find out.
