8th: Today we finger painted the complimentary colors and cleaned up a mess!

7th: Today we worked through the Elephant Toothpaste lab and then worked on our Alien Periodic Table.

Amazing Gymnastics!!

8th: Today we started in on light and reflections, as well as reviewed how we see color.  Tomorrow we will work with some paints!

7th: Today we started in on our Alien Periodic Table Projects, which might seem like a puzzle.  It is, and will take another class day at least!

December 5th

8th: More review of how we see colors and created color tops.  We also worked through a few exercises on how our brains perceive patterns.

7th:  Today we colored a periodic table showing each of the divisions of each category of elements.

8th: INtro into Light and Color.  We worked through a powerpoint and into how our eye perceives color.

7th: Section 3.4 guided reading.  No homework.

North Korea Found Unicorns!!

8th: Today I introduced the science of light.  We worked through a powerpoint and started to define some key terms.  Tomorrow we’ll get into chapter 4.1 a little deeper.

7th:  Today we started in with nonmetals and metalloids in section 3.4 of the text.  Lots of stuff to do coming up!  A guided reading was given as homework.

November 29th

8th: Today we reviewed the EM spectrum questions and I introduced some scientific notation.  The kids have homework over the speed of light, and we watched a little more of Contact.

7th: Today we reviewed the assessment questions over metals and created our own elements in class with a partner.  It was an easy exercise on how to identify properties of elements.  Then we watched a little more of Making Stuff Stronger.  Quiz tomorrow!!

8th: Today we reviewed the Electromagnetic Spectrum and worked through the assessment questions on page 81.  THen I showed them a section of the movie Contact, with Jodie Foster.  It’s about a team of scientists who receive messages from outer space in the form of electromagnetic waves.  I just show the parts related to science.  None of the unrelated material.

7th: Today we reviewed some terms and the assessment questions over metals from page 95 int he text and began watching a portion of a PBS/Nova video called “Making Stuff Stronger.  Excellent chemistry video!

8th: Today we worked through more of the EM spectrum and finished the guided reading to section 3.2 in the text.

7th: Today we reviewed the reactivity of metals and looked at how small atoms are and how we measure them.
