April 3rd

8th: Today we started on the structure and function of the cell.  I introduced our “Cell City” poster project and job posting assignment.  Tomorrow we will work on it, however Friday I will be gone and the NESA testing will also take my 8th graders out of class.

7th: Today we dealt with more NESA testing and we started working on how to study populations.  Population Ecology powerpoint and guided reading done.

8th: Today we went through the first section of our new text over cell theory and got into cell structure and function.

7th: Today I introduced Environmental Science and we watched a video on alternate forms of energy.

Prince Rupert’s Drop Video!

8th: Today we reviewed our last little bit on energy, and tomorrow we are taking a test over chapter 5 in the text.

7th: Today we reviewed our last little bit on populations and animal behavior, and then started talking about environmentalism.  We started watching Making Stuff Cleaner as well.

8th: Today we reviewed forms of energy and introduced energy transformations and the conservation of energy, as well as Einstein’s famous theory: E=MC2!

7th: Reviewed Animal Behavior and started a body language research project.

March 19th

8th: Color notes over What is Energy and the assessment questions due tomorrow.  Pop quiz today before the grades come out!

7th: Color notes over pages 60-65 and the questions at the end due tomorrow.  Also, they need to finish the bacteria lab report!

March 18th

8th: Today we started reviewing some of the important concepts of work and simple machines, and then started in on taking notes over Energy, pages 146-150.

7th:  Today we did our week 2 observation for our Urban Farmers plant growth.  After that, we worked on completing our Bacterial Growth Lab report.

March 8th

8th: Today we reviewed how machines do work, as well as introduce Energy, and work on our Rube Goldberg machine poster project!

7th: Today we did our “Day 1” of our bacterial growth lab observation, reviewed bacterial structure and function and then watched a bit on how weather patterns lead to fluctuations in plant growth, which leads to rodent population growth and bacterial transmissions.
