August 22nd: Creativity Day!

Today we took our information from the first chapter and made our first piece of science artwork to display our knowledge and mastery of some basic concepts.  8th grade worked on planetary seasons and 7th grade worked on the structure of the Earth.  We will spend some time in class on it Thursday but they can take it home to finish if they like.  There is a quiz Friday over this material.

August 21st: Back into the swing!

Today we worked on engaging our science minds by working through an indirect/direct evidence exercise with object in film canisters.  We also introduced more information in section 1 of the first chapter.  No homework yet!

August 20th: Start of a new year!!

Well we’ve gotten through the first week of school and I think we’re all settling into a rhythm.  In 8th grade we’re starting into the Astronomy text and in 7th we’re diving into Inside Earth curriculum.  We’ll be working through guided readings of the first section of the first chapter and no homework as of yet.

August 6th: The new year is beginning.

I’m learning all sorts of new stuff for my new assignment at Mickle Middle School.  Lots of stuff to do before we’re ready to kick off the school year.  I can’t wait!!

May 22: Getting ready for Greek Day!

Today we rehearsed our Greek Day activities and worked on our banners and flags in my class.  I’m pretty glad I was able to get our stuff done this week!

Big test day.  The kids thought it was  pretty easy, so I expect some good grades.

Today was the last day for us to review over the material for the CRT on Monday.

May 17th: Starting to review…

Today i introduced a CRT review for the kids.  The test has to be Monday due to the fact that we don’t have enough tests to test all three 7th grade science classes on Tuesday and the other two are doing it that day.  We can get it done first and then prepare for Greek Day on Tuesday.

May 16th: Biodiversity and Climate Change

Today we reviewed some of the key terms in section 3.3 and then I introduced the connections between climate change and the affects it has on biodiversity.
