Coming up this week! {10/7-10/11}

Welcome back for week #9 in Kindergarten! This is Conference week! I can’t wait to share your child’s progress!

Literacy
We are going to finish up Unit 2 this week! Our essential question is “What kind of bugs do you know about?” We are going to continue practicing the ABC chant each day. We will be reviewing letters Mm, Aa, Ss, Pp, and Tt this week. We will also be reviewing all of our high-frequency words for Units 1 & 2. Our vocabulary words are: attaches, curious, observe, process, and slender. Our grammar skill for the week is verbs.

Math
This week we will be continuing Unit 2 and learning more about addition and subtraction stories. We will work on numbers 6-10, numbers 1-10, and adding and subtracting.  Your child will be bringing home their math homework folder on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday this week. Please be sure to have your child complete their homework and return it the next day.

Writer’s Workshop…
We are going to finish up our 1st quarter writing this week. We are also going to do something new in writing this week! We are going to do a research and inquiry unit on “good friends.” This is going to be a great way to continue building community in our classroom and revisiting those positive characteristics!

Integrated…
We are continuing our Social Studies unit this week! We will continue learning all about our country and the important symbols in our country.

Star of the Week…
We loved learning all about Dillon this past week! Dillon’s favorite animal is a shark, his favorite color is yellow, and he wants to be a basketball player when he grows up.  We can’t wait to learn all about Jack this week.

Don’t forget! Library days this week are Monday and Thursday! Students will have the opportunity to check out books tomorrow.  However, students will not be checking out books on Thursday due to the Book Fair. Your child is welcome to keep their book longer as they will not check out again until after the Book Fair.

Don’t forget! Parent-Teacher Conferences are THIS week! I look forward to visiting with you and telling you about your child’s performance in school. 15 minute conferences go by so fast!

We have so much to learn and look forward to this week! Thanks for partnering with us to make this a successful year in Kindergarten!
