April 6th, 2021 – State Math Test Week

Hello Families!

I hope you had a great weekend and got a chance to enjoy the nice weather.  So glad Spring has finally arrived!

Math

Testing season rolls on in 3rd grade this week, as the kids will take the Nebraska State Math Test on Tuesday and Thursday of this week.

In math class, we’ll continue our work with story problems.  Due to the state test, I only anticipate a single homework assignment on Wednesday.

Reading

This week in reading (Unit 6, Week 1), the kids will practice making and revising predictions, understanding the theme of a story, root words and adjectives as we read a variety of mythical stories.   You can expect a spelling list to come home Tuesday evening.

Writing

In writing, we have begun the process of writing a Personal Narrative story.  We’ll choose a topic for the prompt, “A Memorable Experience,” and begin the process.  This project usually creates some good stories, so I’m looking forward to what the kids produce!

Headphones and Water Bottles

Just a reminder that kids are welcome to bring headphones from home to use with their Chromebooks.  My supply has run out, so if you have an old pair at home you can send with your child, that would be great.

Also, we still can’t use the drinking fountains due to COVID, so a water bottle from home comes in pretty handy.  With the temperatures creeping up, it would be helpful to bring one from home.

Thanks for reading and have a great week!

Eric Wachter
