Dr. Sherrill left a legacy of significant changes, exceptional accomplishments and visionary leadership for the LPS Special Education programsDonald D. Sherrill Education Center (DDSEC) serves about 100 students in grades K–5. The mission of DDSEC is to provide a safe, supportive, educational environment that encourages students to achieve their best, engage in learning, and become productive citizens.

Through the implementation of MTSS (Multi Tiered System of Supports), we have established a positive learning environment with consistent expectations throughout the building.   Staff use a variety of innovative strategies to engage students while encouraging them to take responsibility for their own learning.  Instruction is focused on building academic skills, as well as, helping students build self-management and coping skills. Sherrill staff partner with the home attendance school, parents, and community agencies to assist students in reaching their fullest academic and social potential.
