8th Grade Objectives

Art Objectives:

 1. Students will think creatively with art by exploring the Creative Process:  Ask the Question, Saturation, Incubation, a-Ha!, and Verification.

 

2. Students will explore connections with History and Cultures through:  Art History, Aesthetics, Criticism, and Multicultural Education.

 

 3. Students will express themselves through art by: discovering artists; intentions, learning to read and interpret artworks, and understanding choices for effective communication.

 

 4.  Students will know the language of art: The art elements and principles of design, how to identify interpret and use the elements and principles in an artwork, and how the elements and principles are connected.

 

 5.  Students will create art through acquiring technical skills in: drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery, and printmaking.

 

 6.  Students will learn to live with art by exploring art in the world through artists and art instructors, art historians and museums, art critics and aestheticians, graphic artists and illustrators, set designers and fashion designers, advertising and web designing, and connections with all other subjects.

 

 7.  Students will talk about art through developing critical thinking skills by: looking, thinking, and talking about artwork, reflecting and assessing to understand what was learned through the art experience, and receiving and providing feedback so that the total art experience is enhanced.
