Weekly Update 3/21-3/25

This week we wrapped up our Balls Study and had our first day of our Insect Study. We celebrated our Balls Study by talking about our favorite parts of the study and reviewing the things that we have talked about.

Our small groups this week included making letters, numbers, and shapes with shaving cream and playdoh, and using magnatiles to make new pictures.

During our second step lessons we reviewed our classroom rules and expectations. We also talked about appropriate ways to join in play with other friends.

Weekly Update 3/7-3/11

This week we talked about what animals use balls and what we thought was inside of a ball. Ask your child if they can tell you some animals that use balls!

In small groups this week we played a ball memory game, made shapes on geoboards, and made patterns using beads on pipe cleaners.

Our social emotional curriculum focused on reviewing our safety rules. We talked about how to stay safe crossing the street, reviewed lessons on guns and fire safety, and reviewed our touching rule.

Weekly Update 2/28-3/4

This week we talked about who uses balls and how they use them. We discussed how athletes use balls, how construction crews use them, and that you can eat them!

During small groups this week we used ramps and balls, made 3-D art with sphere shaped items, and dug for buried treasure in the sand.

Our social emotional curriculum focused on how to gain a friends attention, ask for a toy, and how to give a toy appropriately. We call these our LEAP skills. To get someones attention, we have to tap them on the shoulder, look at them, and say their name. We continue to practice this skill every day in the classroom.
