Meet Ms. Jamie

Hello all,

My name is Jamie Hohensee. This is my fourth year of teaching with Lincoln Public Schools. I am thrilled to be apart of the Pyrtle Staff and the Preschool Program.

I love working with children and seeing them learn and grow. I feel the best way children can do this is by being hands on and in control of their learning. I also feel that providing a variety of enriched learning opportunities will help foster children’s growth. We will definitely spend our days learning, playing, and exploring!

I have been married for 12 years to my amazing husband Adam. We have three fantastic children, Makenna (8 years), Elyana (6 years) and Nolan (who will be 1 in March). The girls keep us busy with dance all year long. Both are members of the dance studios dance teams. Makenna shines bright in the competitive team. While Elyana shows her sass in the performance team.  Nolan keeps us busy also with his learning and growth everyday. I was born and raised in Lincoln, NE and attended schools within the LPS system and know that this is an amazing district and I am thrilled to be apart of it on the professional side of it now.

I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Inclusive Early Child Development: Birth to Third Grade in May of 2008. After graduation I worked for a non-profit organization here in Lincoln, NE in the Early Head Start program. While working there I had my first daughter and decided I had a desire to stay home with her and open my in home childcare. I spent 5 years playing and teaching children ages birth to 5 years while snuggling my girls. During this time, I implemented a preschool program to help the children become kindergarten ready. My last year of being a childcare provider, my family had the privilege of having our oldest daughter attend preschool with LPS where I gained insight from a parent perspective. I am currently working on my Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education at Concordia University-Nebraska and will finish my last class in October. I will wait to walk across the stage in May 2020 when my husband will also walk with a Master’s degree in Finance.

I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach your student and learn all about each of your wonderful families.
