Above you can see the bookmark your student will use in reading groups this year. Find a printable version here.  The first graders will learn these reading strategies to help them grow in their reading skills.  We want to prompt students to notice any errors in reading by asking:

• Does it look right?

• Does it sound right?

• Does it make sense?

By doing this, children will learn to ask themselves those questions when they are stuck and figure out the word on their own, or correct a word on their own!

*Reading to your child or having your child read to you for 15 minutes each day is very powerful!
