UNOS DICCIONARIOS:

  • Spanish-English Dictionary
This is a very good online dictionary.  A dictionary is different than a translator.  Use the dictionary to look up words or short phrases.  An online translator does not conjugate verbs for you and can’t recognize proper word order.  It translates it as written in English.  Teachers can look at your work and instantly tell if you used a translator.  A translator can be used to look up words or verbs, but they still need to be conjugated or changed in other ways to be grammatically correct.  This dictionary is great.  You can look up words and it will tell you if they are masculine or feminine.  There are resources on this website to conjugate verbs for you, practice lessons, and more.  If you have some extra time play with this site.  You can also hear the words pronounced correctly.
  • http://www.sinónimo.es/ Synonyms: A great way to find related words and build those vocabulary connections.
  • Real Academia Española This is a great resource for the curious and adventurous language learner.  The dictionary comes from the “Royal Spanish Academy” which regulates the official Spanish language.   Though based in Spain there are many other Spanish-speaking countries which are affiliated through the Association of Spanish Language Academies.
  • Spanish: Vocabulary Guide Are you a visual or auditory learner? Check out this web site that covers a TON of basic Spanish vocabulary.  As you roll your mouse over the images a native-speaker pronounces each item.  This is a great way to study!
