The Zoo School runs on an A/ B day Block Schedule. Refer to the Block Schedule tab for specifics. There is about a thirty-five minute lunch break, in which you can leave campus (grades 11-12), or go to the Zoo Cafe if you wish.
How does block scheduling work with the 8-period schedule at my home high school?
1st, 2nd, and 3rd periods can be taken at your home high school without interference with Zoo School, since those classes end before 10:00 (which is when Zoo School begins classes.) Usually, music and language classes are offered in those periods, but if not, you can usually work it out to only miss a limited amount of time at the Zoo to attend classes at your regular home high school.
How do I commute from my home high school to the Zoo?
Chances are that someone who owns a car is leaving for the zoo from your school at the same time. Ask around at the beginning of school. It always works out, and is not something to worry about. Biking is also a great way to commute, especially if you go to Lincoln High. There are bike racks down by the portables.
With block scheduling, I can only take six classes. How do I get all my credits in?
The teachers are extremely flexible and always work with the students to find out what works best for them.
