Academics

Zeman School supports the learning success of a variety of students including students who are identified as gifted, English Language Learners, special education students and regular education students. We value and believe in academic growth for all students.

Our School Mission is:

All students will achieve academic, social and emotional growth in a safe and positive setting.

Zeman has identified two school improvement goals:

  • All student will improve writing composition.
  • All students will improve math computation.

Staff and students at Zeman value learning. Each grade level sets yearly academic goals and monitors progress toward those goals during professional learning community meetings. Each quarter teachers set quarterly academic goals with their students that support incremental progress toward their year-end academic goals. Academic progress toward quarterly goals is celebrated at the end of each quarter.

Social / Emotional Growth

Zeman students and staff also support and recognize positive student character. The guidance program at Zeman instructs students in the Character Counts program and teaches life skills. Students are taught the “Zeman Great Expectations” code of conduct at the beginning of the year and are reinforced and recognized for positive behaviors throughout the year in a variety of ways. The Zeman community values academic and personal development.

Community Collaboration

Zeman staff and parents work together to support intellectual and social development. The PTA provides direct classroom support by providing necessary funding for extra projects as well as informational programs for parents and students. Teachers welcome parent, grandparent, and community volunteers into the classroom. Parents organize and conduct classroom parties for their children’s classrooms.

Zeman staff memebers believe that we provide our students the best possible environment in which to learn. I invite you to call or visit Zeman School. It would be my pleasure to share more information about our academic learning environment and our remodeled faciltiy. You may contact me at 402-436-1169.
