Period 7- Every Link is Noticed- Attendance at LHS

  • At Lincoln High School, all students are expected to attend all classes, every day.
    • In the real world, if you are late or not able to be where you are expected to be, it is your responsibility to communicate. School is no different. We assume you will be in all of your classes every day, unless you communicate otherwise.
  • If you are sick– Have your parent/guardian call the Attendance Office at 402-436-1301 to let them know that you will not be at school.
  • If you are going to be late to school and it is out of your control (flat tire, car accident, etc)- Have your parent/guardian call the Attendance Office at 402-436-1301 to let them know you will be late.
  • If you have an appointment (doctor, dentist,etc.)- Have you parent/guardian call the Attendance Office 402-436-1301. Have them communicate where you will be going and what time you will be leaving.
    • The attendance office will write you a pass that will be delivered to you when you are supposed to leave. (Please do not leave class unless you get a pass).
    • Please scan out at the North Door or the South Door before you leave.
  • I got a call from the school that said I was TR yesterday! What does that mean?-
    • If you are TR for one or more classes in a day your parents will get a call informing them of this.
    • TR means that according to school records you were not in class and did not have an excuse.
    • Sometimes this is because you are sent somewhere (Media Center, Nurse, etc.) and you did not scan in when you got there so be sure to scan in when you arrive!
    • 20 days ABSENCES for the year will result in legal action from the County Attorney
    • “But I was in class!”       Believe it or not, teachers make mistakes. If you believe that you were in class and were counted TR by mistake please let the attendance office know. They will communicate with your teachers or ask you to do so. You may be asked to go and get a signature from your teacher that verifies that you were in class.
    • “But I was at an appointment!” Please make sure that your parent/guardian did call to verify your appointment with the Attendance Office or send a note from the parent/guardian or the Doctor.
  • Attendance Consequences
    • Every week your administrator and your counselors meet to talk about your attendance for the previous week.
    • This may result in calls home to your parents/guardians and/or consequences (In-School Suspension, Out-of-School Suspension).
      • 5 periods of TR= Parent phone call and school consequence (Lunch detention and/or After-school detention)
      • 10 periods of TR= Parent phone call and school consequence (One-hour After-school detention)
      • 15 periods of TR= Parent phone call and school consequence (One-Day ISS)
      • 20 periods of TR= Collaborative Plan meeting with parent/guardian, admin and counselor
