Week of May 9

From Director, Dr. Hohensee:

With one full week to go, we’re definitely in the home stretch at TCA.  The Senior Recognition Night was a great way to recognize the efforts and adventurous spirits of all seniors who chose to come to The Career Academy.

Leaving your home high school for even part of the day requires a unique willingness to step up to the next level.

This final week promises to be equally exciting as seniors are presenting their capstone projects on their choice of either Tuesday or Thursday night in the Synergy Space from 6:30 to 8:00.

Students should also be preparing and/or taking finals in many of their classes at TCA.  Therefore, it’s essential that students arrive on time and be prepared to be at their best. The other factor concerning on-time arrival is that many of the college courses have attendance or seat time requirements that are actually part of the final grade.  So students need to be especially diligent about arriving on time so as not to lose critical points in these last few days.

Thanks for all of your support throughout the year and always remember that you have what it takes to be a tenacious confident achiever.

Seniors attending a college other than SCC next fall are reminded to pick up a Transcript Release Form in the TCA Main Office to complete and return to SCC Registration or Mrs. Lohmeyer.  You will want to make sure the college you are attending accounts for any TCA courses that may transfer.  See Mrs. Lohmeyer for more information.

TCA students are reminded that you will be returning your Chromebook, cord and bag in your Career Pathway sometime next week and complete surveys about the Chromebook and TCA.  Any damage or missing items from the Chromebook could create a fee and obligation for the student back in their home high school.

SCC Admissions and Financial Aid met with nearly all seniors interested in attending SCC this Summer or Fall Term.  If you were absent or have additional questions, see Mrs. Lohmeyer.  You are encouraged to follow through and meet with an SCC Academic Advisor from SCC Career Services to help you choose your SCC classes.

TCA Senior English students are presenting their Senior Capstone Projects Tuesday, May 10 and Thursday, May 12 from 6:30 – 8:00 PM at TCA.  Seniors chose their project based on their personal interests or career pathway.  All TCA students, staff and parents are invited.

Nebraska Building Chapter is offering hands-on construction experience for high school students.  Register by June 1 to attend the June 13-17 session at SCC Milford campus or the June 20-24 session at TCA.  Registration is free but limited.  Questions?  Email rpetsch@southeast.edu
