Tuesday 9/15/15 Sub Activity:
Complete the following activities and use the remaining time to study for the reading quiz tomorrow over pages 643-664.

  1. Watch the social thinking crash course psychology video.
  2. Watch the social influence crash course psychology video.
  3. Based on the notes we took in class, the reading assignments, and the review videos you just watched answer the review questions the sub will give you. Keep this document and we will discuss it in class tomorrow.

Study Tools:

Collage Board Website: AP Psychology
This is the Collage Board website. They are the organization responsible for creating AP exams. On this site you can find previously released free-response questions and scoring guidelines.

Quizlet:
Quizlet is a website that makes study tools such as flashcards and games to help you study for free! A former student has typed up definitions to most of the terms on your plan sheets. Type in Vlauren01 in the search box then click on the AP Psych class. Awesome! Right?

Crash Course Psychology:
Crash Course is an educational YouTube channel  started by the Green brothers (Hank and John.) This page provides 36 youtube videos on Psychology that seems to follow our book very closely.

StudyBlue:
An online flashcard maker. You can use your computer or download the free app for your smart phone to make flashcards and study them.

Barron’s Online Practice AP Psychology ExamThis test is similar in format and degree of difficulty to the actual AP exam you will see on test day. The test is available in both timed and untimed (practice) modes. You can access answer explanations as you go through the test in practice mode. At the end of the test, you will see a scoring screen with your results. Scoring for section 1 is automated. You will need to self-assess your responses for section 2.

This website contains a collection of 103 psychology videos are available as free study resources. The videos are in the order of our AP Psychology textbook chapters and are very useful as a review tool for after you have read a section.

AP Psychology Community:
This Page provides practice quizzes and free response questions for each unit. This website is based off of a different AP Psychology text book so there are some terms that are on this website that we will not go over in class. This is a great website to use to prepare yourself for each in-class unit exam as well at the AP Psychology Exam.

The Psych Files:
This website was created by Michael A. Britt. He calls this “The Psych Test Prep Tool” and has created a number of tools to help AP Psychology students study with.

Genes to Cognition Website:
Genes to Cognition (G2C) Online is about modern neuroscience. It focuses on cognitive disorders, cognitive processes, and research approaches. This website also has a 3-D brain model in the upper right hand corner that you can use to study for the unit 3 exam. They also have a brain app for your phone.

Mouse Party:
An interactive website created by the University of Utah. Students can use this interactive activity to look at the brains of mice on drugs. Every drug of abuse has its own unique molecular mechanism. You will learn how these various drugs disrupt neurotransmitters to make the user feel high.

Project Implicit:
It is well known that people don’t always ‘speak their minds’, and it is suspected that people don’t always ‘know their minds’. Understanding such divergences is important to scientific psychology. This web site presents a method that demonstrates the conscious-unconscious divergences much more convincingly than has been possible with previous methods. This new method is called the Implicit Association Test, or IAT for short. In addition, this site contains various related information. The American Anthropology Association has create a look at race through three lenses: history, human variation, and lived experience.  This site will take you some time to examine, but is totally worth it!
