Kindergarten Science Standards
Plants K.1.1 Distinguish between living and nonliving things found in a variety of locations. K.1.2 Classify different seeds. K.1.3 Observe and identify the three basic parts of green plants-roots, stems, and leaves. K.1.4 Describe what plants need to survive in various conditions (such as soil, water, and sunlight). K.1.5 Explain that when a seed is planted it will produce only a plant of the same kind.
Garbology 2.4.1. Identify garbage as natural or manufactured. 2.4.2. Describe how garbage impacts the environment. 2.4.3. Recognize ways in which individuals and families can conserve Earth’s resources by reducing, reusing, and recycling.
Weather & Seasons 2.3.1 Observe and describe simple daily changes in weather. 2.3.2 Observe, measure, and record changes in weather (temperature, wind direction, speed, precipitation). 2.3.3 Observe that the Sun provides heat and light. 2.3.4 Identify the causes of thunder and lightning and ways to stay safe around them. 2.3.5 Identify the causes of tornadoes and safety measures during them.
Weather & Sun SC.K.3.c Make observations to determine the effect of sunlight on Earth’s surface. SC.K.3.d Use tools and materials to design and build a structure that will reduce the warming effect of sunlight on an area.
