#16 Spring Parent Teacher Conferences

On February 23, the first night of Parent Teacher Conferences, I thought I would share a few changes with you.   First, the cafeteria for our interpreted conferences feels very empty.

The reason why it is so empty is that our interpreters are busy interpreting for conferences at other schools.  I was only able to have 2 Spanish interpreters come tonight.  As a result, I went to Plan B. On February 28, we are the only ELL school in the district who is having parent teacher conferences so I was able to secure all the interpreters I could wish for.   We have 15 interpreters coming on Tuesday.  We have one of the following Ukranian, Kurdish, Vietnamese, Arabic and maybe even a Chinese interpreter.  Next we have have 2 Nuer and 8 Spanish interpreters.  The cafeteria will not be empty on Tuesday.

Also with the new map on the wall, student names and interpreters will be taped to the south cafeteria wall.

Our 2nd night of conferences was very busy and productive.  We had 14 interpreters represent 6 different languages, even though we do have 13 different languages at our school.

This is what the 2nd night looked like.
