Reminder:  The Pound Open House will be held on Sunday (11/8), from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.  There will be a short program to recognize key participants in the project at 2:00 in the auditorium, followed by an opportunity to walk the building and see the “new and improved” Pound.  Refreshments will be provided in the cafeteria, courtesy of the Pound PTO.

WE NEED YOUR HELP – Please observe the “one-way” (northbound) traffic on 45th street and eastbound on LaSalle Street for student pickup after school.  Safety matters!

Hello, and welcome to Pound Middle School. Thank you for choosing to “check us out” on our website. We welcomed our first class of sixth graders into the building in 2003-04 as we assumed a 6-8 grade configuration for the first time in the forty-year history of the school. The 2009-10 school year promises to be another good one here at Pound.

At Pound Middle School it is our aim to provide the best possible middle level education program for all students. We are pleased to have students of all abilities in our school and support multicultural education while maintaining high expectations for all learners. We do our best to put students and their learning at the forefront of all that we do.

We have adopted the following mission statement: At Pound Middle School we are committed to personal responsibility, ethical behaviors, cultural awareness, life-long learning, and academic excellence.

We just completed the final phase of a $13.4M renovation and addition. We now have sixteen new classrooms and a new gymnasium as well as a new heating and air conditioning system (a first).  The passing of a $250M Bond Issue by the voters of Lincoln made this possible.  We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Lincoln Public Schools Board of Education and the citizens of Lincoln for their support in voting for this bond issue.
