Today’s Learning: What is Big History?

Warm Up: Please respond to the Second Read activity on the Guiding Questions – Complexity and Thresholds  you began yesterday in class.

Class Work: Share your responses to the Second Read activity with your travel partner. Discuss as class. You should be able to identify “increasing complexity”, “Goldilocks conditions”, and “threshold moments” on the quiz over Big History next week.

Second View – Just as you do with documents and pictures, you may also need to watch a video more than once to unlock its meaning. Watch the The Big History of Everything video again and see if your one-sentence statement can be improved!

Attach your What is Big History? story to p. 3 of your notebook.

On page 4 of your notebook, please write any questions you may still have about Big History after viewing The Big History of Everything twice and close reading Student Reading – Complexity and Thresholds.

Standard 1.1 – What is Big History? – Quiz, Tuesday, August 27.
