Dirk Baker: Science and Visual Art
My goal as a science and art teacher is to create an excitement for learning new information. In order to achieve this I like to blend lessons for both content classes based on our student’s interest. Each week has a different theme that is covered. For example, last week we read an article on Komodo Dragons and the research being done to improve antibiotics using peptides in their blood. We then focused our learning on discovering the behaviors and biology of the Komodo Dragon. In order to tie-in science class to art class, we then learned drawing techniques and created drawings of mythical dragons.
