Fuel Up To Play 60 Grant

Norwood Park Elementary was selected by the Midwest Dairy Council and their partner the National Football League to receive a $4000 grant to increase education about nutrition and physical exercise here at Norwood Park. The grant will focus on two aspects 1) improving the “brain break” activities used by classroom students and teachers by focusing on yoga concepts to bring relaxation and focus to students, and 2) “Taste A Rainbow” events that encourage students to taste healthy snack food combinations. Student ambassadors will be creating recipes using healthy ingredients easily found in the kitchen, teaching their peers how to make the snacks and encouraging them to try new and different fruits and vegetables. We’ll also continue to increase our consumption of fruits and veggies at lunch time with our monthly challenges!
