All about Mrs. Barger

“Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.” ~ Margaret Mead

Hello! Welcome to my site! My name is Mrs. Barger and this is my classroom’s page. I hope you use this page as your home-school connection. I will be posting our daily schedule, weekly themes, links to some great pre-k learning sites, ideas for home activities as well as some fun pictures from our class. I hope you find this site useful and it helps keep families informed and involved in our class journey. Let’s have a fantastic school year!

A little about me:  I was a stay-at-home mom to my 3 boys for 9 years and then decided it was time to finish college. I worked and went to school and finally graduated in 2010 with my Bachelors Degree with a focus on Early Childhood/Inclusive education. I taught 2nd grade for my first year and then kindergarten for 2 years before being lucky enough to find my position at Adams teaching Early Childhood. I absolutely LOVE teaching young children! Each day is an adventure, and we get to explore our world using hands on activities as well as learning social skills that will help our children as they grow. My other favorite aspect of Early Childhood is my interactions with my families. We each have a unique family culture that is important in the development of the child both at home and at school. I am looking forward to working with my returning families as well as my new families. You are your child’s first and most important teacher! This is my 6th year teaching early childhood and 6th year at Adams Elementary.

I was married this summer and that is why you may know me as Ms. Sullivan and it may take me a little time to get used to the new name. My new husband is Ty Barger and works at NDOT as the Highway Operations Assistant Division Manager.

A little more…

I have 3 beautiful boys that I have learned so much from! Nick is 24 and graduated from UNL  with his degree in economics. He got a job at Hudle and loves it! He is engaged to be married to Holly who is a 2nd grade teacher at Campbell Elementary. My middle son is Lucas. He is 22 and is starting his Junior year at UNL studying construction management.  He just finished up an internship in Texas over the summer. Carter is my youngest and at 17 is proving to be a true teenager. He loves his video games as thinking he is a grown up. He is going into 11th grade at Norris High School. Each of my boys has a very distinct personality and I love seeing them evolve as they grow into young men.
