“Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.” ~ Margaret Mead
Hello! Welcome to my site! My name is Ms. Sullivan and this is my classroom’s page. I hope you use this page as your home-school connection. I will be posting our daily schedule, weekly themes, monthly lunch and snack menus, links to some great pre-k learning sites, ideas for home activities as well as some fun pictures from our class. I hope you find this site useful and it helps keep families informed and involved in our class journey. Let’s have a fantastic school year!
A little about Ms. Sullivan: I was a stay-at-home mom to my 3 boys for 9 years and then decided it was time to finish college. I worked and went to school and finally graduated in 2010 with my Bachelors Degree with a focus on Early Childhood/Inclusive education. I taught 2nd grade for my first year and then kindergarten for 2 years before being lucky enough to find my position at Adams teaching Early Childhood. I absolutely LOVE teaching young children! Each day is an adventure, and we get to explore our world using hands on activities as well as learning social skills that will help our children as they grow. My other favorite aspect of Early Childhood is my interactions with my families. We each have a unique family culture that is important in the development of the child both at home and at school. I am looking forward to working with my returning families as well as my new families. You are your child’s first and most important teacher!
A little more…
I have 3 beautiful boys that I have learned so much from! Nick is 22 and will be starting his senior year at UNL this year studying economics. My middle son is Lucas. He is 20 and is starting his Freshman year at UNL studying construction management. Carter is my youngest and at 15 is proving to be a true teenager. He loves his video games as well as learning to drive. He is going into 9th grade at Norris Middle School, and is not ready for summer to end. Each of my boys has a very distinct personality and I love seeing them evolve as they grow into young men.
My better half is Ty and he works very hard for NDOR. His daughter Midge is also 15 and we love having her spend the summer with us! Having two 15yr olds in the house at one time is actually pretty fantastic! They have so much fun cooking, playing board games and just being silly. I am enjoying have a girl around to get my nails done with! We love our blended family and are enjoying having them all together.
