Welcome to Morley!
May Morley Elementary School, located at 6800 Monterey Drive, in Lincoln, Nebraska, opened its doors in 1961 to students in kindergarten through sixth grade. An eight-member faculty comprised of seven women and one man served the children. The east Lincoln school served a neighborhood that was expected to grow quickly due to community expansion. The original architecture took into consideration this growth factor and allowed for building additions in the near future. In 2009, through a building improvement plan, Morley added six new classrooms, and an administrative wing. Additional improvements and renovations throughout the remainder of the building were also completed at that time.
Morley Elementary School was named after former teacher, principal and administrator, May Morley. Mrs. Morley served the community from 1900 to 1946 at several locations including Prescott, Park, Capital, Saratoga, and Randolph Schools. Her guidance of youth, teachers, and pupils; her thoughtfulness of others; and her sincere love of children endeared her to those who came under her influence.
The Morley community believes in having the highest expectations for academics and behavior. In all we do, there is a two-pronged approach to working with our students. We continue to help them grow in all academic areas as we prepare them to be successful in all future endeavors by building their life skills. Every Morley teacher believes in a culture of student learning and teacher collaboration. Staff members, administrators and parents work in concert to achieve the highest levels of educational excellence. Along with our school district, our goal is to give every student a superb learning environment by providing quality teaching, personal attention, excellent facilities and equipment, and academic support in a safe environment.
