Friday, May 19 (X Day)
*Food money remaining in student cafeteria accounts will transfer over to next year and LPS schools. Student withdraws from accounts is not allowed.
*Purchased yearbooks will be distributed to students on Wednesday, May 24
*Missing locks from hallway lockers will have an assessed fine of $5 and will be noted in Student Pay.
*Today is the last day for fine forgiveness in the library. If you have a fine for a lost or damaged book you may bring in food for the Food Bank. Every item donated will remove $1.00 off your fine.
*Just a reminder the 8th Grade Party is next Monday, May 22nd at Mickle Middle School, 630-8p. A huge “thank you” to everyone (parents and businesses) who have donated items, their time, and/or money …. this party couldn’t happen without you! If you haven’t had a chance to donate yet, we are still in need of $5-10 gift cards, canned pop, and bottled water. If you are able to help with any of these, please either drop them off or have your student bring them to the office no later than tomorrow afternoon at 4p (if you had made prior arrangements with me about bringing your donations on Monday, that is still okay). We are also looking for parent volunteers to help during the party. If you are interested, please let Susan Van Bibber know (402.436.1216 or email@example.com). Thanks for all your help and support!
LPS Solar Eclipse Celebration:
We are excited to announce that all Lincoln Public School students and staff will be invited to participate in a special LPS Solar Eclipse Celebration early in the 2017-18 school year!
On Monday, August 21 students and staff will take part in a solar eclipse experience for this once-in-a-lifetime event: a full solar eclipse visible in the Lincoln and southeast Nebraska area. Guided by specialists in all curriculum areas, this eclipse day of celebration will be preceded by a full week of rich, hands-on learning opportunities leading up to the grand finale.
Special safety glasses will be provided for all students and staff at Lincoln Public Schools – glasses that have been approved by the LPS Medical Advisory Committee. We will also be training staff and students the entire week leading up to the eclipse on safe viewing procedures. Alternative activities will be provided for students who choose to stay inside.
A committee of safety and science experts have been working for months to make sure this is a wonderful learning experience – and a safe activity. You will receive more detailed information about our celebration at the beginning of next school year.
Chromebooks for students will be collected and stored for the summer. This week, please assist your student in making sure that their LPS devices are clean. Also, help them clear out their cases and locate their charger.
The Mickle School Store will be open for all grades on Friday after school until 3:15p.
