13-17 de mayo 2013:  Monday is the Future Perfect and the yellow packet.  The rest of the week is review.  Entre Dos page 520 and pages 364-365.

6-10 de mayo 2013:   Monday Past Participles as adjectives.  Page 337 in the textbook. Activities pages 338-339  #5,6,7, para y Piensa.  Tuesday the blue packet on adjectives.  Dice Game to practice with past participles.  Thursday and Friday, the pluscuamperfecto, the past perfect.  Complete the tan packet. Football Game practice review game.

29 abril – 3 de mayo 2013:  Unidad 6 _1 Vocabulario página 353.  Pronunciation, drawing of neighborhood and home.  See rubric.  White Boards practice of the present perfect tense and the present progressive.  Quiz on the present progressive and the present perfect.  Story Building with 4 pictures.

22-26 de abril 2013:  Language discussion following the plot of a story.  Lesson:  the future perfect, plusperfecto.

15-19 de abril 2013:  Played a guessing game with  5 truths and 5 lies about your life, using the Present Perfect on Monday. Speaking points and Scrabble with double points when present perfect is used.  Saca Cinco in the Subjunctive Mood.

8-12 de abril 2013:  We begin the week with a game on the subjunctive mood.  Chalkboard Relay.  Give feedback on the Job Fair last week.  We learned the Present Perfect and put the verb forms in our Libreta de Verbos.  Write 5 truths and 5 lies about your life, using the Present Perfect for Monday.  Thursday we reviewed the present progressive and wrote a 15-20 line essay about what you are doing to improve the environment.

2-5 abril 2013:  No school on Monday, April 1.  Tuesday with the sub, complete the worksheets on the vocabulary and the subjunctive mood.  (white and blue).  With your partner, write interview questions as employers looking to hire a suitable employee.  Thursday is the Job Fair!  Matamoscas and personal reading finish the week.

25-29 de marzo:  New vocabulary!  Page 233 and R-8.     Personality qualities page 233:  Identify the positive and negative words used to describe people.  Read pages 212-213.  Answer page 214 1-3.  Complete the worksheet Vocab B & C.  Thinking about your profession, create a classified ad to advertise for 3 job positions where you would consider working.  Include the professions and personality vocabulary found on page 233.  Lesson on the Subjunctive, WEIRDO and page 217.  Listen to the CD page 215 Solucionistas.  Tarea:  Answer pages 216 #4, #5, 218 #6, #8, Para y piensa page 219.  Thursday go over Verbs of Influence page 222 and correct the tarea, Work on the Job Fair Project, Begin planning the Poster and Job Application.  No school on Friday.

18-22 marzo 2013:  Quarter 4 begins.  page 202-203 writing strategy: Using pie charts take notes and then, following the model, write a paragraph about Nebraska.  Culture Pages 208-211 and 219, 224:  Read about the culture of the Caribbean and complete the culture practice page.  Discuss the culture pages and answer the questions presented in the reading.  Roberto Clemente and Juan Luis Guerra the following day, with you tube videos of 5 of JLG 440 music.

11-15 de marzo 2013:  Spring Break

4-8 de marzo 2013:  Mini lesson over Por y Para and a PPT of situations in which to use each.  “la Tristeza del maya” pages 194-197.

25 de febrero – 1 marzo:  Practice with car, gar and zar verbs in the subjunctive.  Listening activities 3_2 A &C.  Communication practice with the CD in a guided conversation on Tuesday.  Quiz on Wednesday over using the subjunctive mood in sentences.  No school on Thursday.  Friday we gave article reviews of “el Sol” and “Ahora” magazines.

18-22 de febrero:  Monday and Tuesday we practiced the Subjunctive tense with the following: a yellow practice packet on the grammar and a poster to motivate classmates to join the club or social action project.  Wednesday we took notes on the expressions used with the SUbjunctive from units 3 and 4.  We also wrote 5 sentences describing what we hope will happen on Thursday and Friday.   Thursday and Friday we had Snow days.

11-15 de febrero:  This week our focus is the Subjunctive Tense!  Write the subjunctive in the verb booklets.  Take notes on the irregulars and stem changing verbs.  Tarea:  a worksheet from the La Mejor Edad reading due on Wednesday.  Later in the week we will discuss “what is the Subjunctive Mood” and complete a newspaper activity.  We also had language practice on Valentine’s Day.

el 4 de febrero – 8 de febrero:  Monday we finished the test essay.  Culture pages to translate:  156, 164. 168, 172, 184, 190, 194.  Then answer pages 175 #5 and 201 #5.  Tuesday we cover the culture. Wednesday is a culture quiz.  We also have discussed the reading selection, <<la Mejor Edad>> in depth, and illustrated the reading selection.  Complete the worksheet on the reading.

28 de enero – 1 de febrero:  After finishing our presentations, we will do activities to review the material for unidad 3_1.  The test will be later in the week.

21-25 de enero:  This week we create debates or Powerpoints about what we will do to preserve the environment.   Refer to the rubric for details.  Include such things as Por vs Para, the future tense, and environment vocabulary.

14-18 de enero:  This week we continue talking about how to care for our environment.  Vocabulary pages 152-154 activities # 1 &2.  Language practice on Tuesday.  Vocabulary quiz on Wednesday after Matamoscas.  Thursday we are introduced to the future tense.  See page 157 and write the verb conjugations in your verb booklet.  Write 5 sentences in the Future tense about ?qué haremos para proteger el medio ambiente.  Use page 173 vocab.

7-11 de enero 2013:  The class completed an introduction of yourself following the green rubric.  We read the introductions in class on Wednesday.  We rounded out the week by learning new vocabulary from Unidad 3 Lección 1.  Fill out the vocabulary sheet using page 173 for help.  Also on the back of the sheet, write descriptions of 15 vocabulary words in Spanish.  On Friday we have Show and Tell!  Bring something from home or your backpack to show to the class and talk about in 5 sentences.

17-21 de diciembre:  Two review days to study for the Semester Final Exam.  Following the schedule for testing days.

10-14 de diciembre:  We continue to practice with the pronouns.  The psychology fair reflection and newspaper are due on Wednesday.  Thursday and Friday we will go to the computer lab to review for the final exam.

3-7 de diciembre:  Monday we are introduced to new vocabulary from Unidad 2 Lección 2.  Write a description of 15 vocabulary words.  Tuesday we played a game using the descriptions that we wrote on Monday.  Wednesday is the introduction to the Impersonal expressions using a form of Ser and a word such as importante, bueno, necesario etc   Ser + impersonal expression + infinitive.   We also completed a listening activity, writing activity and pronunciation tongue twister on pages 128-129 in the textbook.  Thursday and Friday we will write articles and contributions to a class newspaper.

26-30 de noviembre;  Monday we read our book reports to the class.  On Tuesday we went to the computer lab and practiced with Classzone.com.   We also completed a Reading Survey.  Wednesday we learned how to use 2 pronouns in one command.  Refer to the textbook, page 123 for help.  We also completed the worksheet Gramatica A & B on the Commands with Pronouns.  Friday we play Family Feud with the questions that everyone wrote on Thursday!

19-21 de noviembre:  Practice the commands, take the commands quiz complete a reading.  There is no school on the 22-23 of November.

12 de noviembre – 16 de noviembre:  We work on our skits Monday and Tuesday and present them on Wednesday and Thursday.  There is also a pink packet on the Mandatos (commands) which is due on Wednesday.  The quiz over the commands will be on Monday next week.

5 de noviembre – 9 de noviembre:  Go over old papers and go over answers.   Turn in the Como Agua Para Chocolate .  Warm up transparency page 90.  Informal Commands Introduction and put them in the Libreta de verbos  Also we reviewed the Ud. Uds Commands and put them in the Libreta de verbos.  Complete the Listening A & B Pink  We played Matamoscas to review for the vocabulary.  We began the 2-1 project with 4 options, Create a poster of commands to help encourage someone to be involved in social action, Create a skit in which you are working as volunteers, Create a telethon or television/radio broadcast to raise funds or encourage others to get involved in a cause. Use vocabulary, 10 tú or ustedes commands and action that progresses content.  Refer to the rubric.  There is a Vocab quiz Friday for the 2_1 vocabulary.

29 de octubre – 2 de noviembre:  Reading Como Agua Para Chocolate with a reading packet on Monday, Thursday and Friday..  Tuesday and Wednesday is vocabulary introduction on Unidad 2 Lección 1 page 113.  Please complete the ivory colored packet Vocab 2_1.  Study the vocabulary at home.  Wednesday we completed LeerA & B in class.  This is a green paper.  We play Matamoscas at the end of the week!

22-26 de octubre 2012  Presentaciones dramáticas y el cuento de niños, Guji Guji.  Strategia de leer:  cognates, in context and dictionaries.  Write an ending to the story to share with the class on Tuesday.  Notice the proper usage of Preterite/Imperfect.  Gramática Pretérito/Imperfecto B&C a blue worksheet in class on Wednesday.  Thursday we go over it and turn it in.  Then we play Family Feud to review for the test 1_2 on Friday.

17-19 de octubre:  We will work on our skits and present them this week.  Be sure to use the imperfect and preterite tenses, have costumes and action.

8-12 de octubre:  Poetry on Monday!  see pages 48-51 Read, translate, and answer the questions on page 51. Tuesday we will unpack the unit 1, leccion 2.  We took notes on when to use the preterite and the imperfect.  Thursday  The imperfect tense in our verb booklets.  Friday we began to write our detective skits, due next week on Thursday-Friday.

1-5 de octubre:    Comparación Cultural:  page 38 &44 Gerardo Murillo Mexico Dr. Atl  (agua en nahuatl) &Parques  Write a post card to a friend using the preterite tense  see page 47 #20   Review the geografia of pages 28.29,38,and44.  Answer the question:  Does geography affect the style of tourism? and other questions.  Then make a post card based on Page 47 #20.   Escuchar B & C     Tic Tac Toe in the Irregular Preterites .  We will also play a Jeopardy Game to review for the Unit 1 Leccion1 test on Friday.

24-28 de septiembre:   Speaking activities with the regular preterite tense and the verbs that end in -car, -gar, -zar.  Complete the carousel activity around the classroom with the pictures-write sentences about what the people in the pictures are doing.   Irregular Preterite Verbs on page 42 and write them in your Verb Booklet.    Homework Prepare for the Campfire Talk.  See the handout.  Listening B and C.   Todos Junto.  Play Saca Cinco with irregular verbs.

17-21 de septiembre:  Vocabulary presentation page 32-33 and activities on page 34.  Reading Strategy page 35 and answer page 36 #4&5.  Using vocabulario page 53, make a similar poster to that on page 36, or travel brochure sample on page 33.  This will be due on Friday.  Thursday we begin reviewing the Preterite tense from page 37 and use the Libreta de Verbos.

la semana del 10-14 de septiembre:  Unpack Unidad 1 Lección 1 by identifying the themes and noting how each is taught.    Go to Classzone.com and study the flash cards.  Vocabulary test is on Friday.

la semana del 4 – 7 de septiembre: Making comparisons on page 22 and 23.  Read pages 20-21 and notice how the book makes comparisons among the restaurants.  Then complete pages 22-24 Activities # 20, 21, 22, 23,24,25. OR write a guía de restaurantes of 6 places to eat in Lincoln.   Read a magazine article and give a report about what you have read.  Include the name of the magazine, date (en español), topic, what you found interesting.  Re-tell the story of the article.  Also indicate the stem changing verbs that you found in the present tense.  Later in the week we will “unpack” Unidad 1 Lección 1 and begin the new vocabulary.

la semana del 27-31 de agosto:  Continuing with the vocabulary on page 25 and the verb booklets, discuss the verbs like Querer, that use an infinitive after the first verb.  Put the verbs from pages 8-11 in your verb booklet.   With your partner, create a dialog to share with the class about what you want to do, and can do under certain scenarios.  For Wednesday,   look at Mi Rutina Diaria pages 16-17.  Answer page 19 #18.   Make a list of the reflexive verbs that you remember, and use them in a story about your own daily routine.  We also play Matamoscas this week to review the vocabulary and the verb forms of reflexive verbs, and irregulars!  There is a test on Friday, on stem changing verbs, verbs like interesar, and reflexive verbs.

la semana del 20- 24 de agosto :  Monday is Parent Night!   In class, finish presenting your Quién Soy story today.  Classroom Expectations were discussed and choose Spanish Names.  Handout the textbook, Avancemos 3.  Cover the book!  Introduction to the textbook.  Lesson on the Preliminary Chapter, pages 2-4.  Listening activity on Page 3 make up after school.  Read and translate pages 2-3.  The verb encantar works like gustar and chocar.   See page 4 for more information.  Thursday we will practice pronunciation with the tongue twister on page 5!  And begin a unit on verbs to be continued on Friday.  FYI the vocabulary is on page 25.

El 17 de agosto  viernes  Illustrate your life story and present it to the class on Monday.

El 16 de agosto jueves:  Finish the vocabulary review activity with reflexive verbs and adjectives.  Using the vocabulary sheet that you created yesterday; Write a paper entitled, ¿Quién Soy?.  Include your personality and physical characteristics, What you enjoy doing, What you are going to do in the future, (ir + a + infinitive) and your life’s dream (el sueño de mi vida).  We will illustrate and present on Friday.

Introducciones a nuestros compañeros y grupos pequeños de la clase.  Vocabulario Review.  Los colores, los deportes, los animales, la comida, las bebidas y los verbos de acción.  Bring your paper to class tomorrow so that we can finish the activity.
