TCA Information Sessions

Interested in exploring a career pathway? Attend an informational session to gather information about different career pathways, tour the facility, and experience what The Career Academy is all about!

St. Elizabeth Health Career Camp and Internship

The St. Elizabeth Health Career Camp and summer internship are great opportunities for students interested in a health-related career.

Brochures and applications for the St. Elizabeth Health Camp/Internship are now available in the counseling office. The Health camp will be held June 1-3 for current Sophomores and Juniors. The Internship will be held May 26 – June 12 for current Juniors. If interested, pick up a brochure and speak to your counselor. Applications must be postmarked or delivered to LPSDO by March 20.

Sweet Briar College’s Explore Engineering Event

Sophomore, junior and senior girls who have an interest in engineering or technology who answer “yes” to the following questions are invited to participate in Sweet Briar College’s Explore Engineering event.

  • Do you like to help people?
  • Are you the kind of person who likes to craft, make, tinker and break things?
  • Have you been wondering if engineering might be for you, but you’re not sure?
  • Do you like spooky things?

Explore Engineering, an overnight event for high school girls at Sweet Briar College will be held October 25th-26th.

Participants will work in teams with engineering professors and students to imagine and bring to life a computer-controlled, interactive Halloween device. The event is hands-on, stresses teamwork and creativity, and is perfect for both experienced students and newbies to

KSU Girls in Aviation Day

The Kansas State University Polytechnic Chapter of Women in Aviation International (WAI) will be hosting its fourth annual Girls in Aviation Day – a FREE program for girls ages 8 to 18, designed to introduce them to the possibilities available with a career in aviation – on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the Stevens Flight Center (#4 on the campus map).  To register, click here.

The day’s activities will take place from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Light breakfast and lunch will be served. All guests will receive a drawstring sports pack, WIA Aviation Fun Patch, Whirlygig, a copy of Girls in Aviation magazine and a limited-edition t-shirt. The first 100 girls to register will receive an additional surprise. Students who attended this event last year, are encouraged to wear your Girls in Aviation Day t-shirt!

Attendees will have the opportunity to talk to women in various fields of aviation. Exciting hands-on activities, such as flight simulators, drones, and much more. Please note: All children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of their stay at the Stevens Flight Center. Students interested in attending SCC are invited to review the upcoming Career Days, which are listed below. Students are encouraged to register themselves at the links provided  so they can be assigned to groups based on their career interests.

Careers in Construction Day, Wednesday, September 18th, 9 am – 2 pm; Milford Campus

SCC’s Careers in Construction Day will give students hands on opportunities to explore several construction related career fields. Students will learn from industry leaders and SCC instructors and will work alongside current SCC students welding, bending conduit, exploring drafting software, programming robots, and much more! Automotive Career Expo, Tuesday, September 24th, 4:30 – 6:30 pm; Lincoln Campus

At the Automotive Career Expo prospective you will hear from automotive career experts! The automotive industry has become increasingly technology focused and involves work activities beyond turning wrenches. Job availability and wages continue to rise in all areas of the industry! Participants will have the opportunity to meet current SCC faculty and students and industry partners, tour SCC’s automotive technology classrooms, and learn about the variety of career opportunities in the automotive industry. Careers in Healthcare Day, Thursday, October 3rd, 9:30 am – 2:15 pm; Lincoln Campus

Careers in Healthcare Day will give students the opportunity to explore career opportunities in the healthcare field. Participants will have the opportunity to learn side-by-side with current SCC students and faculty in hands-on activities as they explore career fields such as nursing, dental assisting, medical assisting, respiratory therapy, physical therapist assistant, surgical technology, pharmacy technician, paramedic/EMT, healthcare services, and medical laboratory technology. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn about how SCC can help them achieve their goals in careers like dietitian, medicine, physical therapists through the completion of pre-professional coursework and job training in the healthcare industry. Ag Day, Tuesday, October 15th, 10 am – 2 pm; Beatrice Campus

An opportunity for potential students to oversee the day to day activities that happen at SCC in the Agriculture Department. Students will engage in a variety of activities including grain quality and moisture checking, DNA tissue sample collection, learn about arboriculture, witness the latest in drone technology and learn about its’ benefits, and hear from SCC Ag program graduates.
