Goodrich Scholarship Program Application Period is OPEN!

Once again it is Goodrich scholarship application time! Last year there were 60 students accepted into the Goodrich Scholarship Program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO).

The Goodrich Scholarship Program application period opens October 1, 2018, and closes March 1, 2019 at 5:00PM (CST). Applicants can apply online at https://goodrich.fluidreview.com/. Unofficial high school transcripts and ACT/SAT scores are directly uploaded by the applicant in their Goodrich application account.

Announcing the Junior Rogue Program: An Esports Accelerator for Fortnite

In partnership with esports organization Rogue, Find Your Grind is launching the Junior Rogue Program, a semester-long professional gaming accelerator program that gives young Fortnite players a direct path to pursuing their dreams.

Those accepted will receive mentorship from Rogue’s professional Fortnite team, a $500 scholarship, access to industry experts from a wide variety of backgrounds, and resources unique to the Junior Rogue Program. Find Your Grind wants to enable the next generation of Fortnite pros and provide the resources and experience necessary to chase that goal!

The Junior Rogue Program is currently open to residents of the U.S. and registered U.S. territories under the age of 18. Applications are open until October 1, 2018 at 5pm Pacific Time. So if you think you’ve got what it takes to pursue a career in esports, but just need some mentorship to get there, apply now.

Lincoln Area College Fair is September 16

Students and families can visit with representatives from colleges across the state, region, and nation during the Lincoln Area College Fair, Sunday, September 16 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Southeast Community College, 8800 O Street. Admission is free.

The College Fair, sponsored by EducationQuest Foundation and the Nebraska Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers, will also feature financial aid presentations.

Follow these tips to make the most of your College Fair visit:

  • Before you attend, visit NebraskaCollegeFairs.org to register for a barcode. Print the barcode, or download it to your phone, and take it to the college fair so that college reps can scan it.
  • Determine which colleges you want to visit (a list is available in the College Fair article at EducationQuest.org).
  • Prepare a list of questions to ask college representatives. Ask about deadlines for admission, scholarship and financial aid applications.
  • Attend a financial aid program to learn about types of aid and how to apply.

SCC Discovery Days – Fall 2018

SCC has released the dates for their fall 2018 Discovery Days. This experience gives students, parents, teachers, and counselors the opportunity to tour an SCC campus and discover the numerous opportunities available. Participants will learn about each program on the campus they visit, have the opportunity to speak individually with instructors and staff, and learn what it takes to be a successful student at SCC. Each event day runs from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm (lunch is included).

Lincoln Campus – Friday, October 26th, and Friday, November 16th
Beatrice Campus – Friday, October 12th, and Friday, November 9th
Milford Campus – Friday, November 2nd, and Friday, November 30th

UNK Health Careers Fair

Area high school students (most beneficial for Juniors and Seniors) are invited to the UNK Health Career Fair on Wednesday, September 26.  Students may come in large school groups, or with a parent or chaperone.  There is no fee for the fair.  UNK asks that all attendees check-in between 8:15 AM – 8:50 AM in the UNK Fine Arts Building.  The event will feature new breakout sessions, professional programs, and more!  View below for more information and to pre-register.  You can also visit the Health Science Career Fair website here.
