2017-2018 Outstanding Science Student Awards

lns_sci_logoThe Outstanding Science Student Award recognizes a student for superior academic performance and contributions in one of four areas: Earth Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. Students are nominated and selected by the science faculty. This is the highest Science award presented at North Star. The awards this year go to:

  • Chloe Deabler for Outstanding Geoscience Student.
  • Christian Nguyen for Outstanding Biology Student.
  • Mai Tran for Outstanding Chemistry Student.
  • Rourke Jensen for Outstanding Physics Student.

Ms. Frack to Present at the International Writing Across the Curriculum Conference

Congratulations to Ms. Frack and the following teachers who have been selected to present at an international conference this year. Jocelyn Reiss, Camelle Kinney, Emily Kiburz-Grimes, Susan Frack, Carol Flora, and Bailey Feit just got word that their panel presentation proposal for the International Writing Across the Curriculum Conference in Ann Arbor, Michigan has been accepted. They will present in June 2016.

Science Teachers Ms. Covil, Ms. McConnell, and Mr. Doughty Receive UNL Mentor Award

Congratulations to Ms. Covil, Ms. McConnell, and Mr. Doughty for receiving the University of Nebraska College of Engineering Award of Recognition for their work in mentoring students. The UNL College of Engineering conducted a survey of all incoming students this fall asking them about their most influential teacher and they named the three science teachers, among others. The University provided an award certificate to each of the recipients stating this is awarded “In honor of your dedication to academic achievement and your readiness to surpass expectations for student support.”
