Ken Jones Scholarship

“KENNETH E. JONES AND SIGNE KIM LAURIDSEN-JONES EXCELLENCE FUND

 

The Jones Scholarships are awarded annually to Northeast High School students interested in attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for any engineering program.  These scholarships will be used to identify and support students who have demonstrated the potential to be successful leaders of engineering-oriented companies and organizations and all recipients shall be known as Lester V. and Helen R. Jones Scholars.

 

All scholarships awarded shall be in the minimum amount of the cost of tuition based on enrollment in thirty-two (32) credit hours per academic year and all scholarships awarded can be renewed upon maintenance of a cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.75 or above and participation in at least one University-sponsored extracurricular activity outside the College of Engineering, University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Lincoln or Omaha campus).

 

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible for this scholarship:

  • Except for renewals, candidates shall have incoming freshman class standing and shall be pursuing a major in the College of Engineering, University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Lincoln or Omaha campus).

 

  • Candidates shall have earned an ACT score of 27 or higher.

 

  • First preference shall be given to candidates who are graduates of Northeast High School, Lincoln, Nebraska, or any successor secondary school.

 

  • Candidates shall have demonstrated academic and leadership abilities through leadership involvement and/or accomplishments in scholastics, high school athletics, community, and/or civic organizations.
