*************************************************************************************************Chasers Charities – Robinson Athletic Scholarship

Application Due: March 29

In 1947, Jackie Robinson made baseball history by leading the National League in stolen bases and being named the National League’s Rookie of the Year. That same year Robinson also impacted American history by becoming the first African-American to play Major League Baseball.

At the Omaha Storm Chasers, we recognize the important impact that Jackie Robinson had on America and the legacy he left for all Americans. Therefore, we are pleased to award the Chasers Charities – Robinson Athletic Scholarship, presented by The Weitz Company, as a way to recognize a local high school athlete for their hard work, character, and motivation to make a positive impact on our local community and society as a whole. This scholarship will be awarded to an African-American male or female who participates in high school athletics. There are several attributes the recipient must demonstrate to be considered for this award. Athletic achievement, scholarship in the classroom, community involvement, integrity, and motivation are several examples.
